Articles of Faith
1. We believe in the one true and living God: The
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; that these three are One, and are harmoniously
equal in infinite power, wisdom, justice, holiness, mercy, love, and truth.
(Proofs : 1 Jn 5:7, Jn 1:1, Jn 1:10, Jn 1:14,
Jn 8:58-59, Jn 10:30, Jn 14:16-18, Lk 5:20-24, Col 1:12-17, 2 Cor 3:17, Heb
1:1-3, Rev 1:17-18, Rev 22:13-16)
2. We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New
Testaments to be the inspired written word of God which is the only sufficient,
certain, and infallible rule faith and practice.
(Proofs : 2 Tim 3:15-17, Heb 4:12,
2 Peter 1:20-21, Ps
12:6-7, Josh 1:8)
3. We believe that God created man upright and perfect
and that man fell from this pure estate and brought himself under condemnation
and death. This fall was not due to any imperfection in God’s creation but due
to man’s willful disobedience and transgression of God’s commandment. With this
fall from righteousness and communion with God, spiritual death came upon us
all; all becoming dead in sin having no ability nor desire to deliver ourselves
from this condition.
(Proofs : Gen 1:26-31, Gen 2:17, Gen 3:1-24, Rom
5:12)
4. We believe that God chose a people unto salvation
and that this election was eternal, particular, and unconditional.
(Proofs : Jn 1:12-13, Jn 6:37-39, Jn 6:44-45, Acts
13:48, Rom 8:28-30, Rom 9:13-26, Eph 1:3-12)
5. We believe that all who are the elect of God , while
yet dead in their sins, will all be effectually called (born again, quickened,
regenerated) unto faith in Christ, by His Spirit working in due season, are
freely justified, adopted, sanctified, and kept by His power through faith unto
salvation (by grace are ye saved through faith).
(Proofs : Jn 1:12-13, Jn 6:37-39, Jn 6:44-45, Jn
10:2-5, Jn 14:17, Rom 5:8, Rom 8:28-30, 1 Cor 1:9, 1 Cor 2:9-14, Eph 1:3-12,
Eph 2:1-10, Phil 1:3-6, 1 Thess 2:11-13, 1 Thess 5:23-24 , 2 Thess
2:13-14, James 1:17-18, 1 Pet 2:9-10, Jude 1: 1-2, Rev 17:14)
6. We believe that all that are saved are justified
before God not by their own righteousness (which are as filthy rags) but through
the gracious imputed righteousness of Jesus Christ who washed away our sins with
his own blood.
(Proofs : Isa 64:6 2 Cor 5:21, Rom 5:8-21, Rom
10:4, Phil 3:8-9, Heb 9:11-12 Heb 9:22 Eph 1:6-9, 1 Jn 1:7, Rev 1:5-6, Rom
3:24-26, 1Tim 2:5)
7. We believe that the grace of faith, whereby the
elect are enabled to believe is the work of the Spirit of Christ in their hearts
and is ordinarily wrought by the ministry of the Word.
(Proofs : Rom 1:16, Rom 10:14-17, 2 Tim 4:1-5,
Matt 28:19-20, Acts 10:42, 1 Cor 1:21, 1 Cor 9:16, 2 Thess 2:14)
8. We believe that the bodies of all men will be
resurrected from the grave and that the joys of the righteous will be eternal
and that the punishment of the unjust will be everlasting.
(Proofs : Jn 5:28-29, Matt 25:31-46, 2 Tim 2:11, 1
Cor 15:12-58, 1 Thess 4:13-18)
9. We believe that good works and obedience to the
commands of God are well pleasing in His sight and that all who are called of
God are under obligation to do good works, and that in keeping of His
Commandments is great reward.
(Proofs : Matt 5:16, Titus 3:8, Heb 10:23-24, James
2:13-26)
10. We believe that Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are
ordinances of the Church and that believers are the only proper subjects for
baptism and that immersion is the only mode, and that none except those who have
been regularly baptized are to be admitted in the communion service; and that
the washing of the saints’ feet is an example of love and humility which should
be practiced by the members of the church.
(Proofs: Matt 28:18-20, Mark 1:10, John 13:4-15,
Acts 8:12-13, Acts 8:36-38, Acts 18:8,
Rom 6:3-7, 1Cor 11:27-29)
11. We believe that the only legal administrator of
these ordinances is one who has been duly called and legally ordained by coming
under the imposition of the hands of a presbytery and one who preaches in
accordance with the doctrines of Jesus Christ and His apostles.
(Proofs Acts 13:2-3, Titus 1:5-9, 1 Tim 3:1-7)
12. We believe that the Church is the only
ecclesiastical authority on earth, subject unto God alone for all her acts, and
that her form of government is congregational, each member having an equal voice
in all of her acts.
(Proofs : Eph 1:20:23, Eph 5:23-24)
